No American pickup can be registered as a HGV for commercial purposes, nor can it be VTG plated, unless registered as a recovery vehicle (Must Be Type Approved As Such).

These trucks (2500 weight plus) should be regarded as private-use vehicles – ideal for towing (fifth-wheel caravans, horses, boats, classic cars, shows, etc.).

3,500KG GVM / 1500-class pickups can be used commercially without DVSA Plating, but a tachograph may be required where applicable for towing.
